Is there a compliment you received that has stuck with you forever?
There once was a cashier who complimented me on my earrings, and I still think about that moment on a daily basis.
Mind you, this was literally YEARS ago, and it still has an impact on me to this day.
Every time I wear those earrings, I think about her.
And every time I think about that moment, I feel happy.
Isn’t it crazy to think how such a small act of kindness has this incredible lasting effect?
What if you could be that girl for someone else? Wouldn’t that be amazing?

Today, I’m sharing my favorite meaningful compliments you can give to other people to brighten their day (or maybe even their lives!).
Ready to spread some positivity and make someone smile? Let’s get started!
How Compliments Can Impact Lives
Compliments are more than just kind words—they’re little gifts of positivity that can make a big difference.
As I mentioned, I still think about the compliment that cashier gave me years ago.
She may not even remember it, but I do (and so does my boyfriend who was standing next to me).
I don’t want to exaggerated, but she really changed my life that day.
How? Because it opened my eyes to the effect of compliments.
It’s as if she tattooed that compliment right in my heart, and it will stay with me forever.
Because of her compliment, I realised how much of an impact such a small, kind comment can have on other people.
And that I wanted to do that too!
Giving other people compliments can literally change their outlook on life, and on other people.
Your words hold so much power, so let’s start using them to create some happiness in this world!
The Effect of Giving Compliments to Other People
In our busy lives, it’s easy to forget to acknowledge the good in others.
Which is truly a sad thing, because the effect compliments can have on both you and other people is incredible.
Have you ever noticed how a simple compliment can totally transform someone’s day?
Whether you’ve complimented someone and saw them cheer up, or you experienced it for yourself when you got a heartfelt comment from someone.
Compliments just instantly create a positive vibe and help build a stronger bond between two people.
They can boost self-esteem, reduce stress, and enhance overall happiness.
By making a habit of giving genuine compliments, you contribute to a kinder, more positive world.
I mean, how cool is that?
You have all of the means inside of you to have that effect on other people.
All you have to do now, is let it out.
And I’m here to give you the ways to do just that!
5 Sincere Compliments to Give Other People
There are so many ways to compliment other people.
And if you’re anything like me, you don’t want to use the standard “Good job” or “You look nice” (otherwise you wouldn’t be here reading this right?)
As I started focusing more on complimenting people around me, I knew I wanted to focus on details, or mentioning something you wouldn’t normally hear.
So, what are my favorite ways to compliment other people?
1. Complimenting their jewellery
“I absolutely love your earrings!”
This is by far my favorite thing to give compliments on. Especially earrings (oh how I love earrings!!)
It’s where it began for me with that cashier, and what made an incredible impact on my own life, so in a way it’s also literally spreading the kindness she gave to me.
Why do I love this kind of compliment so much?
Because most of the time, people took an effort in selecting their jewellery. It’s part of their outfit, their style.
Noticing and complimenting someone’s jewellery is a great way to appreciate their personal style and the unique pieces they’ve chosen.
It shows you have an eye for detail, and an appreciation for the little things that make their look special.
2. Complimenting part of their outfit
“That’s such a cute top, I love the details on it!”
The most important word here is part.
I’m a big fan of singling out a specific part or detail about someone’s outfit, because it really shows you are truly looking at them.
There’s nothing wrong with a “I love your outfit”, all compliments are great of course, but I do feel like mentioning a part instead of the whole, shows that you really put in an effort in noticing it.
Additionally, complimenting a specific part of someone’s outfit, like their shoes or top, is a way of acknowledging their fashion sense.
It communicates that you not only see the effort they put in their overall look, but also appreciate the thoughtfulness on their choice of the individual piece.
3. Complimenting their smile
“You have such a beautiful smile, it makes me happy!”
A compliment on someone’s smile goes beyond acknowledging physical appearance.
It conveys warmth and positivity.
In this way, you appreciate the joy and friendliness they bring to the conversation or the room.
And the effect on a person when you tell them you like their smile? That’s truly magical.
Watch as that smile becomes even 10x brighter, and can light up the entire building instead of just the room!
4. Complimenting their perspective
“You have a unique way of looking at things that I really admire.”
By mentioning the appreciation of someone’s perspective, you acknowledge their unique way of thinking.
It shows that you value their individuality and respect the diversity of ideas.
This kind of compliment creates a connection between you and the receiver, because you show appreciation for the depth and authenticity they bring to a conversation.
A person hearing their perspective being appreciated will feel acknowledge and seen.
And you know what that means? That they will feel more at ease speaking their thoughts, which in turn creates even better conversations in the future!
5. Complimenting their passion
“You’re so dedicated and it’s truly inspiring to see.”
Recognising and complimenting someone’s passion is a way of celebrating their enthusiasm and dedication.
It shows you not only see their hard work, but also admire their commitment to something they love.
This kind of compliment encourages a positive and supportive atmosphere.
We all want to be seen for our efforts, so this is such a great way to show that you not only notice what someone’s doing, but also their drive, which will boost them even more!
And that’s it: my 5 favorite ways to give compliments to other people!
Incorporating Compliments Into Your Daily Life
Now that you have a list of meaningful compliments, it’s time to put them into action!
Make it a point to notice the positive qualities in people around you.
Whether it’s a friend, family member, coworker, or a stranger (that’s my go-to!), take a moment to share a genuine compliment.
The key is to be sincere—make sure your compliments are heartfelt and specific to the person you’re talking to.
And it may feel really hard or weird in the beginning, but that’s totally normal!
It can feel like a big hurdle to actually speak up and give a compliment (more on that in a later blog post!).
But just as with anything: practice makes perfect.
Over time, giving compliments will become a natural part of your routine, and you’ll see just how much joy it brings to others and to yourself.
Trust me, it’s a win-win!
