How often do you give compliments to other people?
Now, how often do you give a compliment to yourself?
It may feel silly, but if you think about it, we really should start complimenting ourselves more!
Because just like how we brighten others’ days with kind words, we can also uplift ourselves.
So today, I’m sharing some heartfelt and meaningful compliments you can give yourself.
Ready to feel amazing and embrace your awesomeness?
Let’s dive in!
Why You Should Compliment Yourself
I’m an excellent compliment-giver, if I do say so myself.
To others, that is, but not to yours truly.
The effect of speaking some words of love, of encouragement, and then watch it brighten their mood instantly?
That’s just amazing to me.
Never did it occur to me that I could (and should) also use that same effect on myself.
Giving yourself compliments are little acts of self-love that can make a huge difference.
When you compliment yourself, you’re reinforcing positive beliefs about who you are and what you can achieve.
Self-compliments can increase your self-esteem, reduce stress and negative self-talk, and enhance your overall happiness.
By regularly giving yourself genuine compliments, you create a foundation of self-love and positivity that can transform your life.
Now how empowering is that?
Beginning to Compliment Yourself
As I just explained, giving yourself compliments has an incredible impact on your mindset.
When I heard that, I knew I needed to start doing it, because my self-worth is/was extremely low.
So ever since the beginning of this year, I do not go to bed without giving myself a compliment.
After I’ve brushed my teeth, I’ll stand in front of the mirror, look myself in the eyes and give myself some kind and loving words.
But what do you say when you’re staring at yourself, and you feel completely at a loss for words?
Or you don’t feel confident/proud/positive towards yourself at all?
Well, it may not be easy, but the answer is quite simple: just. start. talking.
And I know you came here because you need some help with the words, so I’m here to give you examples of what to say!

You won’t know unless you do it, right?
Start to Give Yourself Compliments Daily
Now that you have a list of meaningful self-compliments, it’s time to put them into action!
Make it a point to notice and appreciate the positive qualities in yourself.
Whether you’re facing a mirror, writing in a journal, or just taking a quiet moment, give yourself a genuine compliment.
The key is sincerity—make sure your compliments are heartfelt and specific to what you truly appreciate about yourself.
And in case you’re thinking right now: “I can’t be sincere, because I don’t believe it.”, I totally get it!
Because to be honest, a lot of the time I feel that way too.
What works, is making sure you phrase your compliment to something you CAN believe in.
For example, I may not believe myself when I say “I have a great mindset”, but I do believe the compliment “I am doing a good job in creating a positive mindset for myself”.
And repetition is the key, so continue to compliment yourself and you will start to see how overtime it will feel more natural.
Especially on the days that I feel bad, I’ll take more time to really compliment myself.
Sometimes I even say them VERY loud, just to start feeling it even more.
I hope that helps, but most importantly: try it out for yourself, you do you.
